My dad and I recently tried to catch some shad for bait.... We use to have not problem using our cast net to get plenty of bait fish.
Most recently we spent 2+ hours and literally did not catch any.
Has anyone else experienced this with all the new water on the lake? The creek we use to go to I guess just isnt holding them anymore.

Lots of shad out in the main lake so they are there. I think they are just late in getting on their summer pattern. I usually only have to throw about 5 times unless I am targeting a specific size. Not the case last weekend.
