the blues would be on eggs that deep? or just in a hole that deep? I'd love to have done some diving as a person could learn a lot doing that ... you learn a lot when noodling too. You're right about the mean male channels too ... that's what made me decide to not noodle any more because one did just what you said to me ..c ame out from under the boulder and nailed me on the nipple .. made about two turns on it in about 1/4th of a second ... ripped tendons loose and turned me into a c cup for a long time on that one side ... thought I was gonna be deformed the rest of my life but it finally started goin down and back to normal with use of ace bandages wrapped around my chest.

Yeah that ledge has nesting holes all in it down to 33ft at normal lake levels. A big 40lb blue guarding a mess of eggs at 25ft deep can burn up two peoples 80 cubic inch air thanks in short order. I have busted ear drums and can no longer dive below about 8 ft. Sometimes not even that deep.
If there are fish on that ledge this year there is one guy in Kingston that would already know even at the flooded levels.

The issue here isn't over harvesting or even harvesting. It's a timing issue. For a few months out of the year these fish break from regular activity and nest...to lay eggs. It's a lengthy process and one that is consistently being challenged by other smaller fish to eat their eggs. When a large fish is pulled off their nest the thrashing and violent movement from the fish destroy the nest and more than likely the opportunity for that fish to spawn at low levels of stress.

It's just not a ecologically thing to do with what's going on.

Spot on! Thank you.

I'll give you the short version. Noodling was made legal in Texas because the spoiled brat son of billionaire, Brady Knowlton, used his Daddy's lobbyist to get a bill past directly in the legislature so he could have his own reality show on Animal Planet. It got canceled after 3 shows. His younger brother just received worldwide condemnation for bidding $350K so he could hunt a black rhino. These people use their money to get whatever they want...and they don't care who or what they hurt to get it.

The good thing is I bet Brady Knowlton hasn't noodling one time since his show got canceled...so his money probably won't get in the way of a repeal.

Now I don't know these folks but I'll say this much....ANYBODY that DID NOT bid on the Rhino hunt with the intention of saving and caring for that animal, even if they only bid $1, hasn't a leg to stand on condemning somebody that did put up their money for conservation and preservation of the species.

Since noodling was made legal in Texas I have not heard of one person that has gone and done so (other than on the internet). I fail to see any impact on the quality of our catfishery from the fishing method as it is so little practiced here. May be different where it is part of the culture (OK).

I watched the show, and it was terrible, all of them (noodling shows) used fish that had been precaught, held in holding facilities, and set up for the camera. None of what I saw was actual, genuine fishing. Heck, even River Monsters has gone to similar methods, using precaught fish and setting up shots, I used to like that show.

My point though, is don't go criticizing the wealthy if you yourself are not willing to put up at least a token amount of money for the same effort, for what they do with theirs.

Would it have been better that the rhino in question were euthanized and no money was raised for the conservation effort? Would that have been better?

Next time, bid on the thing, then say what you want to say with a leg and some respect for support.

Same as voting. You don't vote don't complain about the stupid stuff the current POTUS does. Just suffer along with the rest of us who did vote for the other guy.

I am not sure I understand your logic Fishbreeder. I can't be against the hunting of a critically endangered black rhino unless I am an active participant in a raffle for for the right to hunt one? That doesn't make too much sense to me. Why would I bid on a hunt that I did not support?

I want to know why it is that people flaming my posts usually have 1 post or tons of reply post in the off topic thread? It seems like the people that critize the most rarely start their own thread, rarely ask any questions, and never post any pictures of fish they catch.

I learned how to catfish by asking a ton of questions on the TFF catfish section. I met people, made friends, and went to tournaments. I shared my successes and failures. It seems like we got too many keyboard commandos and not enough fishermen.

Instead of trolling the forum go and read Tiny's encyclopedia of fishing knowledge at http://www.catfishing.tv/Main/tips-section/TipsSection.html

Believe me...if Tiny says noodling has damaged OK's catfish population than it has...the man is a catfishing legend. Many of my mentors have given credit to him for some of the things they learned.

The very reason some of the folks who have been around a long while no longer post, because the johnny come latelys have to make input to show there superior knowledge in there dream world.
