How do you anchor when fishing rocks such as a dam? I am thinking something round might hold and be easy or at least possible to retrieve, and a 10lb Kettlebell might do the trick. Please share your thoughts good or bad idea?

So far I've done OK in the rocks with the folding anchor rigged with a zip tie. I've had to break some zip ties, but the anchor always comes up when pulled from the bottom.

Great success using a 10lb downrigger ball.

That'd be one HUGE football head jig haha. But I bet that would work pretty good once it grabbed hold of a rock.

"Great success using a 10lb downrigger ball" J that is what gave me the idea. A kettlebell is about 1/3 the cost and is rubber coated it might work as well. Other ideas?

Personally, I prefer a kettlebell to any other anchor I've used. I used to have a 5 pounder and actually prefer it to the 10 I currently have. Don't ask what happened to the 5..
This might be the weirdest, most pointless post ever. I am not against golf, since I cannot but suspect it keeps armies of the unworthy from discovering fishing

My first downrigger ball is on the bottom of South Lake...it hit the side of my kayak and unclipped itself. It was a "DOH!!!" moment for sure.

Hehe, what happened to the 5lbs one? There are enough ppl on here who will tell embarrassing stories on me for me to start telling them on myself! I will say there was a witness.

I've used a #5 dumb bell for an anchor for years. It holds on rocks, gravel, mud, grass, shell, weeds...everything, and I can get it back (unlike some types of anchors that are still on the bottom somewhere...ie-claws). I found that window weights and round anchors will slide and roll. Haven't used a kettle ball because I've not found a need
