i went fising with bruce on grapvine the other day and he uses a 12 pound line and pitches into lots of trash, the rod he used was a 7ft castaway, light action i think he called it a crankbait rod.and the baits we used were zoom trick worms but he said it dont matter whos bait you use it all about keeping the bait wet, also if you think you are fishing slow slow down even more, the reel used was a chronarch sf, and mustad with the guard but he cut the wire

Napa know how

Mad Man Mooneyham once told me on the hookset lift straight up with the rod..i've got to confess I haven't tried it enough to find out if that works, but I aim to if I ever get on the water again...I kinda like tiki sticks myself for the bait and use a 6ft spinning rod and #8 mono...haven't had much luck at wacky worming, but I haven't really given it a fair shake...

I learned this technique two summers ago and love it. I use Zoom Trick or Finesse worms rigged wacky style. I use a 2/0 weed guard hook and hook the worm through the center a little towards the heavy end. You will be able to tell where to hook it more by watching the worm fall.

I use 10-12 lb line on a spinning or baitcaster reel. Line twist is a problem when using a spinning reel. I put 10lb Trilene on my Ambassaduer 5600 D5 and it cast great. I use a medium action 6'6" Allstar rod.

I fish alot of weed lines and pockets. Find the shady side of the weed line and pull the worm parallel to the weed line. Pop it a few times and let it fall. Fish it SLOW. Try not to pop it to far. Short, slight twitches of the rod tip work great. I have also found that throwing it up on the moss or weed bed and twitching it off and letting it fall works good during the evening time of summer.

My .02 cents on this technique and I'm still learning.

a good starting point would be to get a light or moderate light action rod your choice in length...take a straight shank hook of your choice and take a waterm/red zoom trick worm..hook it through the middle and throw it to any cover you want. let it fall to the bottom and pick it up about 3 inches with your rod tip and let it fall back down again...repeat and then reel in..the fish will normally hit on the initial fall..also although everyone uses 10 or 12 pound test i stick to 15 normally because i fish rayburn alot and have caught some pretty good size fish off of this in those bushes. you'll realize why i do when you hook a 7 or 8 in a bush or in hydrilla.
