I stopped by Pier 121 at 7pm tonight to look at the high water and saw a center console boat picking up people from shore and heading out onto the lake. The lake is closed to all boat use to reduce the flooding to many of the homes. Someone could care less.

I hope the lake recedes to a level that will no longer impact the homes that are flooded, and to a level that the Corps decides to open the lake to boat traffic. I toured the lake the day before it was closed to boat traffic, and the number of homes that were a foot away from being under water was mind chilling. I am all for heavy fining those who chose to ignore the boating ban. But I guess from the silence to my thread, that most here would not agree with me.

Hopefully that will be enough for us to get back out there soon.

one thing is homeowners have homeowners insurance and most people during a flood actually make money get to remodel their house excetera there is the rare occasion that someone gets screwed but for the most part they come out better new stuff and make money we don't fish we don't make money there is no Affleck for fishing guides or Outfitters

Whats funny is we were at Sneaky Petes last Thursday and a boat was trying to get to the place. If you have ever been to Sneaky Pete they have a pool on the second level and a pavillion further down, both units were under water. I just laughed out loud telling my wife, look at these idiots trying to dock. They couldnt make it so they turned around and left.

If the lake closure is enforceable by law, then they are boating illegally, but like mentioned above if it is a guide he has to provide for himself, no different then a robber, he has to knock off convince stores because its his job, illegal or not and must deal with the consequences if he is caught doing so.(Please do not think I am comparing the 2 professions I have several good friends who are guides and respect the fact its a rough and tough career choice.) Illegal is illegal (no grey area here), and implying its ok to potentially flood someone's home because they may have flood insurance is not that cool. I should hope the boater is at least courteous to the property owners in the area and keeps his wake down.
Catch and release into the grease!

Have seen a few boats on EM and they are sure not guides. Big huge boats that I would guess are other home owners . All the public ramps are roped off. Law breakers are from all segements of life. I wondered if lakes are closed how do you enforce it without putting law enforcement boats on the water which causes wakes. Not my job to worry about it but was just wondering. Johnny

If you do not have a flood policy you are SOL. This is correct and if you live in a flood plain the rate are very high. Like you say some will have it but most will not. If the lake is closed for boating it should be closed to all boats with no exceptions other than LEO rescue type.

Communistic to close lakes ever. When I was a kid you could go to lake any "dam" time you wanted.
Keep em tight!

Fox news just said they are opening LL up to boat traffic tomorrow but most ramps are still closed.

I am happy the lake is open again. Safe boating to everyone. I will be sure to support the people here who respect others property as much as their own.
