Finally got a break in the violent weather this past weekend to get my Slayer out on the water. I really like this thing and look forward to a lot of time on the water with it. Before it even saw water me and a buddy put a homemade rudder extension on it, and I picked up a Scotty rod holder. Now that I've had it on the water, I think I'm gonna discard that worthless forward-facing flush mount rod holder, unless I can turn it around..but I don't care for the angle it sits. Not sure if I'll go with a milk crate setup..between a small backpack for my tackle and a few boxes behind the seat, everything is easily accessible. I think I will rivet a small organiser for some things like my pliers, jawbone, and sunscreen between the seat and the hull. Overall, I really dig this thing. So many good lakes in southeast oklahoma that don't allow gas engines or have no boatramps that this thing opens up access for me. I think the Slayer treated me right. Picked up a good mess of cats floating some worms and CJs under a float along a rocky weedline. Lost a few due to some of the metal clips on the stringer failing. Still had a blast and can't wait to take her back out again.

Don't look like my pics are showing up. No worries...we all know what catfish look like.

That forward facing rod holder is awesome for changing lures. That's about all it's good for, but for us bass fishing guys, it a nice addition.

Just one more cast!

Im glad you pointed that out! Now I know what to use mine for. Otherwise I thought it was useless as well.

Yes, after catching a few fish, you will notice that placing your rod in that holder while doing things like changing tackle or handling fish is quite nice.

Good choice on the yak. I love my slayer.

Well ain't that something. I'll give it a shot before I ditch it now. I'm pretty old school tho...I just tuck my rod up under my armpit when I'm changing lures!

I was thinking about doing the same until I took mine out this weekend. That rod holder is great for when you want to change position of the yak, changing lures, removing lures from the fish's mouth or just holding the rod while you grab something else. It was more useful than I thought.
