# 6 and 4 go ahead and get the 3x or 4x I have been through aboout a 1000 of the cheap kind they bend out of shape when removing them,they break easy that means losing a nice cat.

I went to #8 hook up rate went way up, miss very few bites, just enough bait to cover hook, only downfall 80% swallow hook which I dont mind, cheep hooks I havent broke any, 9 cents a fish aint bad http://www.ebay.com/itm/100pcs-Lot-Red-F...=item19f8c81d0c These are cheap BUT REALLY GOOD HOOKS better than Eagle Claw 20 for $4.50. As cheap as they are order some 2 4 6 8s and see which works best for you

It is funny you say this...Sure Shot says the same thing on its package and I have tried a 4 but found a 6 gets more bites. I must be doing something wrong.

I stated using #6 instead of #4 and got more hookups. I'll size up to a #4 if they are swallowing the hook, but so far I haven't needed to this year.

#6 4X is prob best all around size.
