I checked on the website of the Florida Fish and Game Commission I don't know how many of the dead bass,, if any, Iaconelli culled today. If he culled one or more, that is a violation of the Bassmaster sportmanship rules (efforts to promote fisheries conservation) in addition to a violation of Florida law. The stern light American Flag attack seems to touch on "no conduct reflecting unfavorably on efforts to promote safety, sportsmanship and fair competition" Iaconelli news As an Iaconelli fan, this is very tough to watch the article mentions four dead fish, but he only weighed in two dead fish. where are the other two dead bass?

I was never a big fan, but after attending the Bassmaster University where he spoke recently, I saw that he is genuinely passionate about the sport and that he really went out of his way to involve the younger members of the audience. He went above and beyond what was really expected throughout the day. He really changed my image of him.
But some of his actions, especially culling dead fish and kicking and manhandling the American flag are very disappointing. I realize that it comes out of extreme competitiveness, but today's actions are really unexcusable.

No matter how frustrated he was because of the dead fish in his well, does not give him the right to throw the American Flag in the water like it was nothing. That is the flag our troops are fighting and dieing for everday, A flag I fought for and respect very much. If we see someone in some third world country throw the flag on the ground we would want there heads. DQing him in my opinion is not enough, they should fine him. Just my .02

Ok, here's his last two classics
2004 Day 1 He purposely DQed himself after a poor start.
Day 2 He blow through a no wake zone, causing an angler to have to move from the spot because he couldn't fish there.
2005 He tears up a boat trying fish too shallow. Getting in his cameraman's boat to weigh in his fish.
Ike is repeat offender, it's about time they do something. Also, I bet Triton wasn't too happy to see him abuse another boat.

I am curious about how the fish croaked
Was it because the hydro was not used and dissolved oxygen levels dropped in the livewell water?
Was it because he din't aerate fresh water into the livewells?
Or did he leave the drain valve open and let water get sucked out while moving, leaving the fish out of water?

I am curious about how the fish croaked Actually it's a shame that any fish die when an angler gets to this level of competition but to disgrace the American flag is totally unexcusable. I am a 100% service connected disabled veteran and refuse to watch or support any company that condones such antics. Somehow athelets rise to a certain level and feel they are no longer responsible for their actions. Dennis Rodman in a wedding dress, John MacEnrow with his courtside antics. These folks believe that they are so good that the sport cannot or will not survive without them. BASS can do what they want but that would only elevate their egos. If you want to teach these children how to act like adults their sponsors should cut them off at the knees when they disgrace the American flag and embarass the company! A simple note on the motel door should suffice - "Because you have chosen to disgrace the symbol of America that many have fought and died for and as an representavive of [insert company name here] we will not condone such activities; your contract is herewith terminated immediately. Additionally, you will be required to find your own ride home because the boat and tow rig is going back to the factory. If you have any questions regarding this notice, please feel free to contact our legal representative."

As far as the dead fish go, **** happens. But if my kids acted the way he did, I'd throttle them. It wasn't that long ago that if a person treated the American flag with disrespect, a pickup load of good ole boys would take that person behind the wood shed and "remedy" the problem. I have little or no tolerence to grown men acting like 4 year olds. Could be the ShinerBock talkin though.

All Ike will do is go and buy him a brand new boat the next day. If you want to end sponsorship for mike then you should also look at jimmy houstons actions on bellars place and the reason he didn't get in trouble was because he testified. Houston will ruin our hunting sport long before Ike will of fishing. We still don't even know if Houston had a proper hunting license while being up there.

Joeyreb Check your facts---Ike was told by spectators on an adjacent dock that he was fishing out of bounds. He promptly called the tournament honcho, told them where he was and what the spectators said, and was advised he would be disqualified due to his location. Since he had a GOOD start, with a pair of keepers in the well early in the day, he didn't disqualify himself due to a poor start. If you choose to disagree, contact BASS, ask them for a clarification, or better yet, find out where you can view the film made by the cameraman in Ike's boat at the time of the incident. ROSS
