The WERE identified to me as water moccasins in the photo, NOT by me but the person who took the picture. 'Unless you are a Herpetologist', I tend to believe the photographer. They are dangerous until proven otherwise, IMO God Bless

There are different type of water moccasins. The black cotton mouths you have to worry about, not those. I still would not get in that boat for a long time

LOL if you think there is any water in Texoma that clear right now. The whole basis around this photo is to get you to believe high water forces all these snakes into a bunch.
I've seen them stacked up in a cluster on limbs before when there was no flooding or high water scenario at all.
And yes, that photo has been floated on many sites with varying lakes.
Banded water snakes are known to group up like this. Cottonmouths are much more solitary and typically remain that way unless it's mating season or during hibernation.
While not venomous, water snakes can deliver a nasty bite if agitated that can become infected if not cleaned and treated properly.
That IS NOT a pile of cottonmouths.

Whatever they are, I sure ain't getting in any boat with them. They get in, I get out! Wife sent me the picture that was identified as being Texoma. I can't atest to where it is...but, that is a LOT OF SNAKES. Posted around ?? Could be... I don't look at a lot of other sites and this is about it for 'social media' for me. Poisonous? Non-Poisonous? I don't know... me, I would look like Bill Dance in that boat.. God Bless

+1 for banded water snakes... they make up for being non-poisonous with meanness tho!

Me and my brothers have had allot of fun with those banded/diamond back water snakes. people always mistake them for "water moccasins" there is only 4 venomous snake breeds in Texas. Copperhead, cottonmouth(water moccasin), rattle snake and a coral snake. Only breed you need to worry about around water is the cottonmouth and you will know when you see one. Usually found around vegetation, trees or shallow bushes.

Here is a news video of the photo that has been floating around. Not sure how to post the video here, but just google it, and it'll pop up
