I guess I am lucky, but I have not had any problems with the Dobyns Champion or Savvy rods (knock on wood). I hope to never have any problems, but their warranty is a big plus, in my mind. Have fished with Denali and liked them, but they were not Dobyn's, so there you go. Never fished with TFO rods, but I have heard good things about them, for a lower entry price, but in rods, you normally get what you pay for. Just my .02. Hope this helps.

Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

I have to share my experience on this one! Time and money are too valuable to allow others to go through the same frustration.

I'm going to get the new fury line up for dobyns. Hopefully for the fury series the guides are better and if there not, at least it's not a champion Rod. The fury rods are only $110, my next purchase will probably be the Denali rosewood.

None of the above! Use a grown up rod like a Falcon or Shimano

We have a bunch of Dobyns rods and have never had an issue with the guides. From the Savvy to the Champion Extremes. Looking forward to trying out the Fury line.

Are you not going to use Powell Rods?
I like Shimano rods after a buddy turned me on to them. Inserts in eyes seem to be a problem for any rod manufacturers. I (knock on wood) have not had any eye issues with Shimano but my buddy has. The customer service is really good though the times he has had problems.

I'm on pro staff for Powell so of course I have a couple of their rods but I want to try out different rods as well.

When I first started buying Dobyns rods, most "local" dealers would accommodate in-store same model rod replacements. I am not aware of any who will do this today, however they have all been kind enough to handle shipping back and securing my replacement. I wonder why this is no longer an option?

Look at the inventory of Dobyns rods in dealers who use to carry a large inventory.

Don't take my word for it, do your homework. Go to dealers that carry multiple rod lines and ask reliability questions.

I truly want them to work because I love how they feel. I do not want to have to change. They just aren't worth the headache! I can't help but find the irony in the name of the new line..."Fury".

Wow the Max 3D is an awesome rod as well as the now discontinued regular Max series and the Endurance series. Not sure why you neet to try other rods if you are on the pro staff with them.

Because last weekend I picked up my boat captains champion and it felt a lot more balanced and more backboned than the heavier side of rods with Powell. Don't get me wrong I love Powell but as a high school angler I want to expierence with a variety of rods.

Do you have any of the Max 3D rods? They are very light and well balanced. I have quite a few of the Powell Max rods and a bunch of the Dobyns rods, mostly the Extremes and have never had a problem with any of them.

Don't know anything about Denali but I do have Dobyns and TFO. I love my Dobyns Champion rods but I'm only buying TFO now because they're also great rods and I like the guides on the Tactical series and they cost less than the Dobyns Champion. Both Dobyns and TFO have a great warranty for their rods. Not sure where you live but TFO has a warehouse at 8105 Sovereign Row, Dallas, TX 75247. I snapped the tip on one of mine by grabbing about 6" below the tip and pulling too hard on a hung up bait. It was my fault that it broke, but I took it in, paid $35 and got a replacement. While I was there I found out they have vaious rods on sale that are mislabeled or scratched or for whatever reason they can't sell as new. Pretty good deals on some if you're close and want to check it out. I think they're all made in Korea but Dallas is their US warehouse location. Also broke a Dobyns by slamming a boat storage cover on it. Had to ship it back and got a replacement for $80.
