The wife is progressing well in rehab hospital in Waco – so well she sent me home for a couple of days. Again, thanks to all who prayed when she was in critical condition with pneumonia and ARDS. You were among thousands praying.
So, 1st day back I went fishing of course. Stayed out for 6 ½ hours scouting many humps and structures. I was afraid fishing areas would be limited from stained water after all the rains, but water was clear enough to catch fish 25 ft down with a spinner. I’m happy to report fishing is great as I caught fish on most of the spots I tried. Total caught was 150: 90 whites, 40 keeper-sized yellow bass, 16 short hybrids, 2 cats and 2 legal hybrids. Caught fish in 14 -15 fow at Crappie Isle Point SW and north finger of Spillway Hump. Caught fish in 20 to 25 fow at East Dam Hump, Staubach Hump, Long Ridge, Mid-lake Hump and Iron Wall Hump. Didn’t find much at Dam Ridge, Greenhouse Ridge, Key Ranch Drop-off, Key Ranch North and Merimac Point. Those were all the places I tried today.
After starting at 9:30 AM and catching a 25 white bass limit at Crappie Island Point SW, I went to scouting mode and would try to catch 10 whites at each spot before moving on. The only lure I used was a Mepps #4 silver Aglia. All fish were caught reeling Mepps up from bottom. Saw no surface action today.
Ran into Snaggin Steve and Fastguy at Long Ridge (see pic) and then ran into friend Paul H at Mid-lake Hump (pic).
It was great to be back out on the water again.
