You guys saying its a bobwhite are blind. Really. I dunno what it is but I can tell you what it isn't, and it isn't a bobwhite quail. I see them almost daily...

We used to hunt'em in the upper mojave

Definitely a checker! Used to hunt them quite a bit in California. They are a tasty little bird

Chukar - i used to be a "parkie" - lots of people keep birds like this as pets - don't know how many laws i broke as a kid raising random animals - am curious which park?
