Dog Philosophy 101

We give dogs time we can spare, space we can spare and love we can spare. And in return, dogs give us their all. It's the best deal man has ever made. -M. Acklam
Dogs love their friends and bite their enemies, quite unlike people, who are incapable of pure love and always have to mix love and hate. - Sigmund Freud
I wonder if other dogs think poodles are members of a weird religious cult. -Rita Rudner
A dog teaches a boy fidelity, perseverance, and to turn around three times before lying down. -Robert Benchley

Ever consider what our dogs must think of us? I mean, here we come back from a grocery store with the most amazing haul -- chicken, pork, half a cow. They must think we're the greatest hunters on earth! -Anne Tyler
Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea. -Robert A. Heinlein
If you pick up a starving dog and make him prosperous, he will not bite you; that is the principal difference between a dog and a man. -Mark Twain

Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole. -Roger Caras
If you think dogs can't count, try putting three dog biscuits in your pocket and then give him only two of them.
"Any man who thinks he can be happy and prosperous by letting the government take care of him had better take a look at the American Indian".

Here are my boys, This is Lakota (AKA aren't your beautiful to all strangers that meet him) I read a book once saying that Siberian Huskies were useless as watch dogs because they are just to people friendly. Lakota has taken that to the extreme! He has never met a person he did not love. Lakota was also a rescue dog we adopted from the American Eskimo Dog Rescue Society. Blackie Here is our lab/chow/shepard/godonlyknows mix. We rescued him as a puppy from the Fort Worth Humane society. He is a good dog, quite protective of his yard, home and family always challanging any sound with a vicious bark but once he gets to know you he is a big sweet heart. He is a pretty smart boy and has learned many "tricks". Great thread we should all celebrate our dogs once in a while during the time we still have them with us.

I agree with you on your comments on your Huskie. Everyone that sees mine (Alley) comments on how beautiful she is. As far as being a watch dog, if someone broke into the house she would show them where all the good stuff is.
They are very independent and vocal. Alley lets me know every day when it is time to go for a walk. She will continuously howl and moan until I take her.

I just love my girls... I couldn't imagine a day without either one of them. They are getting older and their time is getting shorter. I'm gonna miss my Mercedes very much when her time comes. She loves to carry the trash bag out to the dumpster and likes to carry mail back to the office... The tricks we teach our dogs is never ending..
Kingwoodranger... thanks for the Dog Philosophy 101..
