For an alternative, look at Wiley X sun glasses. Somewhat less expensive than Costas and I like them better than the prescription Costas I had.

My dad was looking at prescription Costas. His optometrist told him they have the best glass, but they are super pricey. I convinced him to just get Lasik instead.

I second the Wiley X glasses. I got a pair of prescription Wiley X for $300 on framesdirect.com. About half what I could find Costas for. Frames direct almost always has a promo for lenses 30-40% off.

I could not afford the prescription Costas. I ordered my glasses with optic gray glass polarized lenses with anti-glare. They work really well.

Poly I'm pretty sure Wiley X doesn't do glass. They are rated safety glasses used heavily by police, military, and in industrial environments. If you watched American Sniper all the sun glasses they wore in battle were Wiley X. As far as I can tell they are on par with my 580P Costas I used before I needed a prescription. Not as clear as 580G I've tried from Costa.

Look into Amphibia. They make great prescription glasses and they float so you don't have to worry about losing expensive pair in the water. www.amphibiaeyegear.com

I picked up a pair of Polar Eyes at Sams Club for @ $25-$30 These particular shades slip right over my eyeglasses. They have a few different sizes to accommodate various lens sizes. And they are polarized. They fit great with zero discomfort. I can lose / damage a bunch of these compared to one pair of prescription shades. Keep a pair in your boat, truck, etc..
