Exactly. The corp shut down release from lewisville as well according to the website. I would guess it has something to do with how flooded the trinity is at the moment, drove over it in Dallas the other day and it was as full as I've ever seen it. That makes sense. No need to push more water into the flooded rivers if Lavon can hold it for awhile. Things will get interesting if we get a bunch more rain this week.

Could someone PM me how to get to the dam? My wife and I drove around for almost an hour the other day and I could not find an entrance or someplace to park and walk. I went to Lavonia park and it looked as if the road that would lead there was close and the gentleman at the gate told me that it is illegal to fish the dam.
After seeing how many here fish it, I don't think that is correct. Any help is appreciated since it takes me almost an hour to get to Lavon.
Thanks guys.

Thanks all for the great information, plan on taking a trip soon. Never have been there, so this maybe a dumb question to those that's been there, is there a place to cast net for bait at the dam, or should I buy minnows? Please PM if you feel necessary, thank you again!

Never have been there, so this maybe a dumb question to those that's been there, is there a place to cast net for bait at the dam, or should I buy minnows? Please PM if you feel necessary, thank you again! I went by last night for the first time and with 9 gates open, the water level was quite high. Alot of junk, garbage, tree branches in the water. Snagged my cast net a few times and ripped it up pretty good. But each cast had fish in it. ALOT of baby crappie and small sunfish. I couldn't really tell the difference between them when they are under 3 inches and everyone kept on telling me different things so I threw back everything small and ended up only keeping 3 4inch bluegill and a minnow. also caught a few 3 inch LMB in the net but could not find any shad. The other guy caught a couple 7+ inch sunfish and a few shad but it was mostly small crappie and sunfish.

My guess is that the shad aren't there yet, it needs a few days with a bunch of gates open to draw some shad up, they should be there soon though.

Here is the pic of the dam yesterday evening, stayed for about half hour, saw 2 or 3 small sand bass and one drum caught.
