Bar S Hot Dogs cut into chunks toss into a gallon ziplock bag and dump in some Garlic powder. Let sit at least over night in fridge.

the garlic will give it that little extra kick but i found Fresh minced Garlic to work the best i do had a little garlic salt or powder to it i also tired to leave them out before trying and caught more when i left them in the frig for a few day in a container for a few day. fresh garlic has an natural oil that will acolyte penetrate the skin of the hot dog i sue the powder to help spread the sent quicker in the water but like i said i have not done this is a few years not since i stared making the cheese bait. nothing seems to work better then cheese other then shad for box fish not big blues just the box fish

I'll have to try the minced garlic next time. FYI, Walmart had Bar S dogs on sale for 75 cents a package for the past two weeks. I went ahead and stocked up my freezer.

Got a limit of really nice little eater channels on Bar S hot dogs. I used aberdeen hooks under slip floats and didn't have a prob with bait coming off. I just threaded the hook through the skin and embedded it right back into the meat. worked great, and the cats seemed happy. Amazingly enough, I also hooked 2 spotted gars. LOL. Apparently, Ray Hubbard fish aren't getting enough BBQs

When drift fishing I usually drift one rod baited with shrimp and catch channel cats on it. I save the hot dogs for lunch and bait my drift rods with shad. When channel cat fishing over chum I mainly fish with Stubbys bait and I have tried Chemdawgs cheese which works great also. If I want to use a punch bait Sure Shot gets my vote, but have caught fish on CJs.

My apologies for turning this thread off advertising and to back on topic. The Bar S hot dogs were not my lunch. I went to the dock and used them. I caught a limit of cats. I didn't drift shad or X bait. I used hot dogs and caught fish.

I have only tried the hotdogs for spawning channel cats with bobber but may try drift fishing with them this summer.
