I wouldn't waste my time, with a biologist at the weigh in said the ph of the lake was way off there's dead sand bass all over the lake and the fishing is brutal the only upside is that all the sand bass are dying

Really??? Wow! Well the kicker is. I have taken a family fishing trip to this lake the second weekend of May since I was in 9th grade. We have always had a good time and fishing was always good! We missed it last year. Thanks guys! I guess we can just try our best...

I fished that tournament about 4 or 5 times and may have caught two little dinks total through the whole ordeal. It doesn't like weekend pressure, especially bass tournaments, but if you let it rest until about Wednesday or Thursday it fishes quiet well most times. It really doesn't see a lot of traffic Monday through Friday and I think that is what makes it such a hard lake to tourney fish on the weekends......

We had been there since wed and the fishing was great. Caught some good ones. Come Saturday.. Uncle Jesse tournament. We caught a few the first few hours then it completely shut off the rest of the day. Only time in all the years we have fished it I have seen it do this. I am sure we will figure something out. We are Fishing Wed-Sat.

G, one of the best practices I ever had was at this lake fishing along the shore at clay bluff. I caught 5 fish in about 30 minutes that were in the 3.5 to 5 pound range. Again this was probably on a Wednesday or Thursday. I went back to that same spot the morning of the tournament and "crickets" would best describe what happened.......

Uncle Jessie was won with a 5.84, yes it was way off from our expectations. As for the fish die off, it happened several years ago and yes it mainly affected the sandbass, some catfish but not many bass. The bass will backed off for awhile as for as feeding activity. If it duplicates from acouple years ago it will be real good after about a month. The next year the bass grew tremdiously. The sandbass die off ends up being a good think for the bass due to less compition for food. Sorry for the people who love to sandbass fish. As for as what caused this we are hearing alot of rumors just know confirmation yet.

Been out here since Wednesday. 8 fisherman. Only 4 largemouth caught. Biggest went three pounds. Also since we have been here the lake has been infested with blue green algae. Not sure how that affects the fishing but I know it is toxic to humans and animals. Worst fishing I have ever seen. Probably will not be coming back here.

Yep 5.84 was way off expectations being that this lake has produced probably dozens of DD fish, which it usually does around the end of February and early March. I haven't been on it in a long time but would still do some mid week fishing on it after work. As soon as it has time to get rid of the algae and settle down from all the fresh water it will rebound. It has always been a good lake to fish for LMB's, sandies, crappie, and cats but not a very good tournament lake and I think that is because of the lack of traffic it gets Monday through Friday. The company I work for used to pay my way to fish the Uncle Jesse every time I fished it and I have also fished a few club tourneys on it as well all with about the same result, goose eggs. Before I got rid of my boat I quit signing up @ work to fish it because lakes like that would really get inside my head and make me doubt my capabilities......I can't help but wonder though how a night time midweek tournament would turn out.............
