Tried this over in the bass fishing section without luck. So, thinking about putting my bass boat on the water at a Texoma marina. I can get a bottom job for about a grand, whereas a lift will be 3 grand plus. Someone tell me why the bottom job for a bass boat is a bad idea! sure would like to save the money... thanks, Howard

ok a bottom job on a bass boat is a bad idea when you go to sell it some folks will think you are trying to cover a repair up an it is a bad idea to leave a bass boat sitting in the water many bad things can happen.

maybe because everything is sitting so much closer to the water, relative to all the big recreational boats you see with bottom jobs... makes sense i guess. thanks..

Bottom jobs have to be redone every few years and if you fish stumpy areas you will take the bottom paint off quicker so a lift will pay for itself in a few years. And if you look hard enough you can pick up lifts for $1500 or less from people that need to sell them before their slip contract is up I will keep my eyes open for one around Ray Hubbard

Get the lift you can always sell it and get back a little of your investment or you may change boats later and won't have to do it all over again

If your going to put it in Texoma think about the zebra muscles also. They will attach to the hull while it is sitting in the slip. I would go for the lift because you can get it up out of the water so no surprises when you get there hopefully.
