Hey all,
I'm somewhat new to catfishing and wanted to try a stink bait for the first time. After researching, I decided on the Team Catfish punch bait since it had good reviews all around. Took it out this morning and had a mixed experience with it. I was hoping someone with more experience would be able to answer some questions I had.
1. How do you get this stuff to stay on the hook? I don't know of maybe I just got a bad container, but the one I had was super dry and I had to mold it around the hook like a dough bait for it to stay on... even then it flew off every second or third cast. 2. Should I go with maybe a dip bait instead and get the plastic holders or furry thangs? Or maybe a different brand of punch bait? 3. I was fishing it on a slip bobber rig and a #6 treble; at what point do I set the hook? I know this is probably a really basic question, but I have never fished with a bobber before. I missed way more hook sets than I am accustomed to in bass or bream fishing.
Thanks in advance.

Once I used Stubby's I threw away my secret 7 and sudden impact !! Caught more fish and didn't stink up everything it touches. I'll never use a punch/dip bait again.

First to the TFF. Punch bait is used with a #4 or #6 treble hook {Depend's on Consistancy} No need for sponges, tubes or the like. If you reel in every 15 min. Go ahead and re-bait {Tha Fresher Tha Better}. If it get's to soupy or runny, add some Cattails or Shredded Cottonballs. If it get's to tough, throw in some Vegetable Oil or Evaporated Milk. I prefer Sure Shot Punch Bait made by Mr. Benny Roberts.
Fish To Eat. Eat To Fish.

You got a batch that's been sitting on the shelf too long u refrigerated. Put a little vegetable oil in it and mix it up. I assume you are talking about the sudden impact. Use a paint paddle to push it down. Pack it around hook. Press on the bait and pull hook up thru the bait

I like punch baits because they stay on hook better. I cant keep Stubby's on the hook. I cast out and it disappears. no bites and its just gone. I think it is coming off when the hook sinks to the bottom or when the cast hits the water. I have put some on a hook and bounce it in the water a couple times and its gone. I have and do use many kinds of punch bait and catch fish on them.

I keep my stubbys in cooler during summer while on the water. Keep in fridge when not fishing.

If trying to fish on the bottom I put it in one of those Little Stinker bait holder for their tube bait.

cheese baits wont last a long time or for more then 1 -2 cast i can some time get 3 short tosses out of mine but i am not trying to cast it more the 10-15 yard Cheese will disolve and break down in the water putting off the sent that attracts fish, that is how it works. It was never meant to stay on your hook for ever. cheese baits will get soft and should be kept cool and when not in use i store mine in the frig When i fish i keep mine as cool as i can most time in the shade is good enough but if you can keep it in a little cooler with some ice that is best. When it is warm it will catch more fish as it baks down in the water quicker its just easier to to put on the hook when it is cooler. fiber and puch baits use cattails that stick on the hook and you pretty much have to rip them off when your done but the bait is soaked in these and even they need to be changed out every 15 mins-18min so it is about the same as the cheese just you have to rip the cattails off were cheese baits break down in the water and most of the time will fall off when you reel in it what one is better it is just a matter of personal experience and preference I only use cheese baits and have done very well as as just about ever one who has tried it I know mine will last about 25mins on a hook in the water as i test every back i get a get a warm glass of water and put some on a treble hook weight and leader and let it soak in the glass of water for about 20-25 mins the i grab the leader and shack the hell out of it if it stays one for a minet to 2 with me doing this then it is good and ready to fish with.
I use a #4 treble hook No spring and a small split shot weight above my hook and a slip cork Chum often to get then in the area and feeding and then every out toss out sever small scoops of chum i fish shallow against the willows reeds grass and in the stumps IF THE FISH DONT BITE WITH IN 30MINS AFTER CHUMMING MOVE I PERSONONLY DONT GIVE IT THAT LONG 90% OF THE TIME THEY HIT WITH IN 15 MINS OF CHUMMING I went to waco this morning for a few hours and i had to move 4 times before we found fish in 3ft of water once we found them we bought home the 3 of of brought home 25 in 3 hrs nothing big 1-3lbs
You dont have to keep mine in the Refrigerator ether but it is cheese when fishing i just leave the container out it will last month if let in the garage or in the boat Most Importintly unlike a lot of others Baits Mine Does not Stink At all But Please Dont eat it even if your tempted to. lol

The softer mine is the better I like it.it is easy to bait the hook the way I bait it and I don't use a lot of bait. I have no problem with mine staying on the hook. Mine stays in the boat and is never refrigerated. Be glad to show people how I use mine. Big Marv

I have personally tried big Marvs. It is not that good out the the jar that was given to me I managed less the 7 fish. It did not smell as plesent and stubbys Or nearly as good ad chemdawgs. Nore could it hold a candle to chemdawgs cheese dough . His bait stays on the hook well sells good as hell and catches fish. I was give a jar of your bait last year. As a gift from a buddy in San Antiono. One this your bait has over there's is yours smells Horable lol.
