can a depthfinder be hooked up to a tv I am wanting to install a 12inch monitor on my boat. I have a hds5 gen 1

If you had an Humminbird Onix it would be no problem. The unit has a built in HDMI output.

The 800, 900, and 1100 series discontinued XX8 models have a video out port that is composite video.

This is flat panel TV hooked to a 1198c SI Combo with the VC-1 cable:



This is an ONIX hooked to the same TV with a HDMI cable:
