The cooler is nice but it is bulky and acts like a sail, ...great for downwind but a PIA for up/cross wind. My best solution is a freezer bag using a bottle or 2 of frozen water. I bleed the fish for a quick kill then slid em in.

Rookie Question: How do you bleed the fish and do you go ahead and slice open the belly and remove the guts as well?

I like my cooler for food and drinks. When I keep fish i stringer them. If I feel a drag I chunkem in the back. Same goes for my minnow bucket.

I usually use a stringer. I went out on Monday morning and expected to fish just around a creek, caught few with 3 keepers then it stopped. Still have all day so I decided to move around in a slow speed / trolling. The fish still swim when I left; however, the meat is no good when I fried the whole. The meat were loose and turned white, kids rejected to eat. Will bring along a cooler next time if decide to cover a big area.
