After trying out a PA12, Outback, Slayer propel 10 and 13 I have pretty much convinced myself that Slayer Propel 13 is the ONE for me and I came home almost ready to place an order.

Today I have a different thought. Although Slayer Propel 13 is about $650 cheaper than PA12 but I personally think that its really not that much cheaper There are a few things that slayer doesnt include. It does not include paddle and hatch cover is additional. PA has rod holders to protect the rod tips and Slayer has none. Putting the drive system aside, from the hull and features design point of view, I personally think PA is more innovative and well-engineered.

The only reason I decided to choose Slayer Propel is the reverse. If I take that factor away, I would choose PA12 in a heartbeat. I dont know why I cant get over the idea of that I must have reverse, maybe I dont need it. I think I am going to rent a PA12 and use it for a day to reassess what I really need.

This was a good side by side comparison of the specs. Understand this is the "pre-CT seat" version of the Outback without the improved deck layout so the specs are not absolutely reflective of the newest models.

Awesome review. thumb

I've been drooling over the Native Ultimate 12 for a while now.

What would those yaks give you over the Native Ultimate besides pedal drive?

Just curious.

Native OK...Texan by choice.

Mirage drive ftw. Love my outback gonna upgrade to turbos fins soon, and if the PA wasn't so heavy I would have gotten that instead other than that I'm happy.

Rod, I love my ultimate. I still think it is one of the lightest 12' boats around and the seat is very comfortable. I got it for an easy to throw in my CAR and go kayaking and fishing with minimal gear. I usually just take a few plano boxes , very small cooler and 2 rods.

As I use it more for fishing, I really like the idea of hands free. Plus pedaling means no paddle drip either smile . Pedal drive also seems easier when the wind kicks up, to just lay back and use my legs, probably because I also mtn bike.
