Anyone know of any good places to take a RV, camp on a river, and do some paddling? Most places I find are either not RV friendly (tent only), the sites are a long ways from the water, or there isn't enough water.

Well, as of last night there's too much water! Hamm Creek on the Brazos and Morgan Shady on the S Llano (Junction) are two of my favorites.

You almost have to go south to the hill country area or go north into Oklahoma or Arkansas. In addition to what Jerry said above, I know the Guadalupe has some RV camping, White and Buffalo Rivers in Arkansas, Lower Mountain Fork in Oklahoma. There is a Dallas Downrivers Club - maybe contact them although I think they tend to more tent camping oriented but they may point you to some places to set up base camp. GL.

I checked out Brazos River RV Park last week. They were real friendly and they have a ramp there.

Matagorda Bay Nature Park. Right on the Colorado where it meets the Gulf. And, as an added bonus, plenty of redfish and specks to play with. Fish the river or fish the marsh. There's also jetties and three fishing piers in the park, and live bait just up the road. Our RV and kayaks spend a lot of time there.......
