If the great fishing is back, and it is safe, it is a wonderful adventure.

Where is this lake at?

I heard Ron had a group go earlier this year, the lake was as good as before. I hope to make another trip when it opens back up, it's a real Mexico adventure.

North of El Salto.

I've been to Comodero once, Huites once, and El Salto 14-times.

No more Comodero or Huites for me, unless something has radically changed. Armed guards outside my door with machine guns didn't excite me. They were obviously there for good reason.

At El Salto, I've never seen an armed guard, nor have I EVER felt unsafe.

Just my .02-cents. And I do the Mexico thing at least once per year, if not twice.

El Salto isn't Mexican enough for me. I went there once, it is a small lake and too many boats from the different outfitters, running the same spots, fishing along side other boats.

Comedero was awesome, I fished some afternoons and didn't even see another fishing boat, except for maybe an occasional tilapia fisherman. It was like fishing in the wild. The mountains around the lake look purple in the afternoons, truly a beautiful, rugged lake.

The other Mexican lakes I like are Baccarac (big fish, nice lodge) and Guerrero (gnarly fishing, rough bushes and trees and some great island fishing). Have not been to Picachos yet, gonna let the fish grow bigger before I go.

Stacking my coins for a January trip to Comedero with Ron Speed and the Falcon Lake gang this will be my second Mexico trip my first was Picachos and I am hooked !!

went to el salto a month ago and it was a blast. but i agree with cali kid, el salto gets a lot of presure. going to try to go to baccarac next year.

Is there any night life at any of these lakes?

I enjoy fishing in the day and partying at night?

Like the song says; If you want it, I can get it.

You'll be partying alright at night. They don't have goats down by the lakes in Mexico, so they may use you.

There are goats on a lot of the islands; so no worries.

I will drive a trip to Comodero at the end of Dec.. Just got to get out the old map and learn how to get there. Wherever the turn off is I usually meet the supply truck there and follow them into these hard to get to lakes. It makes it much safer also.
