no sir, I can tie a knot about just as fast.

I use the Norman Speed clips on hard baits when fishing lakes with no grass.

^^^^ this, it doesn't add that much time a fast I can tie a Palomar.

Does a swivel affect the action of lures, is the lure independent enough to work despite what it's tied to during retrieve? Maybe that's a reason to say no to swivels?

A bullet weight with a knot tied straight to hook would be your best bet to get through cover. more compact, less to get hung up. Less stuff to break. I trust that braid more then a swivel.

Yes the swivel does affect the lure action. It actually allows the lure more action because of the slippage between the swivel and the hook / lure. But this comes at a cost. The swivel is more noticeable to the fish. Depending on where you fish (high pressure / low pressure) this can reduce your bites. But hey they can also to the lead weight so it may not be that big of a deal. The biggest down fall IMO is snagging. When I bass fish I am normally throwing in and around cover (grass / brush / stumps / rocks.....) using a swivel on TX rig or Jig or...... gives the lure more places to snag. For example a friend and I were fishing on Fork flipping standing timber and he was constantly getting hung up. I looked over at his jig and told him to take the swivel off and he did. He never got hung up again on that trip. That is my

I don't use a swivel simply because I do not want all that clutter in front of my bait. Tying directly to the lure gives you the most realistic presentation. Just my opinion.

Good advice...use a palomar knot directly on the hook. Lose the snap swivel....bullet weight & hook only. For hard plastics use something like a Norman SpeedClip if you want a quick change option. When the clip gets stretched (splitring part gets egg shaped) toss it and tie on another new one.

I use speed clips on my moving/search baits rod/reel merely for the fact that I only have 3 combos and kayak fish. The speed is a major bonus. Haven't caught enough fish with/without them to tell a difference.

Yes, I use swivels time to time. Why? Just feels normal for me, when I started as kid I always used them, it`s like a habit that doesn�t want to go away.

Used swivel/clips when I was a kid, on a trip to Minnesota I hooked into a pretty good size musky 5-6lbs, bent out the clip and got away. From that day forward I avoided them, it was my first story about the big one that got away

No swivels for me unless it's on a Carolina rig

Do pros use swivels to fish Texas rigs? The answer is no so therefor it's not the best way to attach your line to the hook. Not saying you won't catch bass doing it. But it's not the best way that's for sure
