The little lady caught what I think was a Goldeye on a plastic worm Sunday on Lake Texoma. When she set the hook the fish went airborne what looked like 2 ft out the water. I have never seen one of these . At first I thought it was a shad. Has anyone ever caught one of these?
We never thought of the lake record and just threw the ugly thing back. The lake record is 2.31 pounds and 17.50 in length. The one she caught would have been close.

Is that the actual picture of the catch, or just an example? If it's not the actual picture, it very well could be a shad.....there are tons of large shad at Texoma.

I thought it was a shad at first. After getting home and do a little search I know it was a Goldeye. The fish had teeth .

That's a pretty interesting catch. Was also an interesting sight the photo was posted on.

We caught one on Texoma this weekend as well. I thought it was a shad at first until an older gentlemen had informed us it was a goldeye.

They are pretty common, I catch a bunch of them in the winter while catfishing. They make great cut bait.

You sure it was a goldeneye and not a skipjack? There are tons of skipjack in Texoma and expecially below the dam.
