yes i just did mine inside the rub rail with rope, i found some rub rail splice caps online and installed those over each end to prevent the rope from slipping or getting snagged

PM 95champ about installing them with rope in the rub rail. He did that about a month and can tell you all about it. Look at his pic. Very nice.
