I'm with Brad Hardt on this. If all else fails slow the heck down for a minute or two, show some consideration to the other anglers, and have a little respect for crying out loud. If staying on pad is the right thing then do it. IF slowing down for a couple of minutes is the right thing then do it. Make a conscious decision to do right in each situation and be considerate. Getting close enough to spray another boat? This guy has no business on the water. If he doesn't kill himself and his partner he's going to injure or kill someone else. It would take an absolute IDIOT to get that close to someone because "they are in his way".

It only takes seeing one fatal accident on the water to change how you think about this. I Have witnessed a handful of avoidable accidents on The Pines up in the river. One accident there was one that survived and one that didn't and a stump was what killed him. He thought running on plane was a safe bet. He thought he knew where all the stumps were. But he was wrong. It was too tight and he was going too fast. No way he should have been running that fast where it happened. His $60k rig lost and he lost his life. Stupid and avoidable. But I guess he needed to get where he was going.

If it ain't yours don't mess with it!

Usually the guy above is right I am a local and can run the whole lake. So yes slowing down in some areas will cause the boat on plain to hit something tear a lower unit up or put a huge hole in the boat.

Just a thought.

Some of you that "know where to run" still hit submerged stumps. I agree with you somewhat but that's a pretty silly comment.

They are all unmarked, that is the problem, so for the guys that went out and took the time to find ways to run the lake, how could they be in the wrong ? I guess everyone should just idle on the lake, not going to happen, maybe TPWD could get off their arse and mark some boat lanes.

There are no lanes that I'm aware of. Just the locals that fish it a bunch have there own lanes and can run all over the lake. So for a fella to go back to Indian or anywhere east of Wolf Island, enter at your own risk of the locals. LOL. Whatever! I don't really care if a guy runs by me on plane. I assume he knows what he is doing. But that's on a place like Fork where the lanes are marked. If I were fishing in a boat lane that is. If you don't know you are in this "lane" some dude made himself then have some respect for the guy that's out there just trying to fish and enjoy himself. A little respect goes along ways fella's..... Thankfully this has never happened to me. At Ray Bob anyways.

How would that guilt sit over you ? It took alot of idle time for me to learn where I run . Did yall put in anytime or did you just follow people ? If you did then you were at idle alot as well .

This.... I mean its common sense and courtesy folks.

I will make a promise! If you guys with all these lanes on Roberts will go out and mark them I promise not to idle in them and I will move out of the way when you come by on pad! I will even buy the paint! Deal?

I haven't really had any either. Not a big enough ordeal that would make me want to get pissed and quit fishing a trail or anything. Had folks cut me off but that didn't stop me from putting the hammer down on the ole trolling motor and just act like they were never there. I mostly think things like that are funny. But I'm not gonna put anybody at risk intentionally of getting injured and then brag about how I know my way around the lake better than them and for them to just get on outta my way!

I know what you mean injury to a craft could lead to injury, damage , death , and getting sued if you're lucky . If you injure somebody they may meet you at the boat ramp and have something for you . I'm out on any of the above.

Ill be idling all over the lake the next few weeks, I don't want to tear my boat up. I don't want you to tear your boat up. If I'm idling and I see someone coming on plane, ill try to get out of there way, but i could end up getting in there way. Im a pretty courteous guy, so I expect others to be courteous of me as well. None of us own the lake. Just try to be safe out there.

All in all who really cares. This was posted here to start something. No need for people saying what ifs and others getting upset. The people confident will run the boat the way they do. The people getting mad an upset will be mad and upset. It happens, you're on a lake full of different individuals.
