Can someone tell me if after all the rain yesterday if it's even worth me driving to the lake today? I can fish the covered docks at the Marina so the rain shouldn't bother me much but what are the odds the fish are biting after the substantial amounts of rain we had yesterday.

It's been slow on GV lately. So I'd say it's a 50/50 chance. Maybe flip a coin lol

Hahaha that seems to be the overall synopses of that lake right now though I haven't had such luck. I've consistently caught fish out there over the last few weeks. I just didn't know how muddy the water had gotten and if crappie are even worth chasing in muddy water.

Though there was only 1 day I caught close to a limit (24 crappie and a sand bass) I can't complain about multiple 10-15 fish days.

Well, if you trust your skill - go for it! Never pass up a chance to crappie fish.

I fished Scott's Landing this afternoon. Not one single fish. I only had one suspension of a bite, but I think I was wrong. First time I skunked it up in a long time. Water was color of peanutbutter, and up about 8 inches since Sunday.

The rain is good but its going to make it a very tough spawn if it keeps up. One thing I have found is that the crappie on Gvine HATE muddy water and don't like the lake to rise fast. If things settle down then I would bet the fish hit the banks very quickly as this lake usually spawns late anyway.

If you do venture out,, your best bet of getting bit would be minnows as much as I hate them things.

My thinking is that the minnows would help with the bite now that the water is muddy. I wouldn't waste my time with minnows otherwise lol. I think they are ready to move up but this is going to stop them for right now.

I haven't needed minnows my last few trips to the slips.
