I've been using silver thread an40 10# & 12# for years for cranking. Since the Fluorocarbon availability is good, I having a hard time of switching to braid and fluorocarbon 25 ft leader. For those that had made the switch; is there a advantage with braid/ fluorocarbon combination. I use 7 ft glass and 7-10" ft glass rods.

Straight 12 or 15# floro deep cranking and long lining. Floro sinks and will help gain depth. Less stretch helps set the hook and feel the bait better. Glass rods are not sensitive enough for my style.

I throw 8lb mono for my SQ Bill rod and it just lost me a club tourney today because I couldn't set the hook on long casts, any line suggestions for 1.5's and smaller squarebills?

There is a misunderstanding about FC line.....FC does stretch...I've taken the same # test of FC and mono....tied on a worm hook....hooked it around a chainlink fence...and stretched the line....both stretched about the same length....the difference....FC is denser than mono, thus, it has a slower rate of recovery....giving the impression it doesn't stretch as much as mono....mono has a spring effect......I have switched my deep cranking to FC....I feel the bottom much better compared to mono.....and it does offer greater depths due to it's density....I do still use mono when I crank shallow, heavy cover targets...and of course....always on top water applications....

I agree, I use invisx on any Crank bait I am trying to get 10ft. Or deeper. Using 12lb. On 6XD and 15lb. On anything going any deeper. Still use 12lb. Big Game on any crank bait designed to run up to 8ft. Or less including lipless.

I have done my own research and testing. Flourocarbon does have less stretch. And at 100yards it is tremendous.

I've read about the Seaguar Red label. My main thing is on a reaction bite using mono, I was thought that the line doesn't spooke the bass. So those whom use Flouro; is there a diffident edge?

I don't know about the other folks here.....but, I fish deep diver crankbaits in water 30-40 feet deep....I've never cranked 100 yds of line......so.....I can't vouch for the stretch of FC at that great distance....my testing was @ a distance of about 25 yds....

I use either 12lb or 15lb P-Line Flouroclear either in the clear or green mist depending on water conditions. In winter I tend to use the clear and in summer I will switch to the green mist when the water gets off color.
For Squarebills/Traps I use a 7' Medium Heavy, Moderate action rod. I only use all graphite for the feel.
I really feel like the rod is most important in hook ups and getting them back to the boat. You need backbone to yank the bait out of cover and get a good hook set but you also need a softer tip to not rip the bait out. Since switching to this rod action my losses have gone down dramatically.
I have a Pinnacle 7' Squarebill Rod CAMHCB, a Fenwick 7'2" MH/M Bass Tech, and a Falcon 7' Jason Christie 7' MH/M.
My favorite is the Pinnacle but the other two are good with the Fenwick being a very nice rod.

I will use 15lb on my squarebills and 10-12lb on my deep crank. My dad was throwing 10lb and I was throwing 12lb same 6XD he was getting deeper and bit more so Im going to try 10lb this year on a glass rod.
