Outboard motors on White Rock Lake can be no more than 10.5 HP. However, boats with larger motors can navigate the lake using their trolling motors. Several fishing piers are available. Camping is not allowed, but picnic facilities abound. Park curfew is midnight to 5 a.m.
According to the Dallas City Code, chapter 32, section 32-9.1, you can fish White Rock Lake after the midnight curfew for other activities. I verified this with the parks department several years ago. It took them a couple of days to research it and verify it. The wording in the City Code can be confusing. Here is a link to that section of the city code. http://www.dallasparks.org/DocumentCenter/View/743The code does not state that you can be in the park to fish during the curfew but that if you are ticketed, "It is a defense" to enter or leave the park while engaged in legal fishing or boating, just like you have a right to be in the park for a scheduled event or passing through to get to your residence. I have wondered why they have this exception in the code? I don't want to be on White Rock after dark, let alone after midnight.

Here are some White Rock links I've saved over time. The last link is a Google map of WRL points of interest. http://texasfishingforum.com/forums/ubbt...s?#Post10380135http://texasfishingforum.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/9918602/Searchpage/1/Main/800916/Words/White_UBBT_PHRASE_rock/Search/true/Re:_White_Rock#Post9918602 http://texasfishingforum.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/9228182/Searchpage/2/Main/747865/Words/White_UBBT_PHRASE_rock/Search/true/Re:_White_Rock_Lake#Post9228182 http://texasfishingforum.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/8761955/Searchpage/3/Main/710200/Words/White_UBBT_PHRASE_rock/Search/true/Re:_White_Rock_Friday#Post8761955 http://texasfishingforum.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/8552462/Searchpage/4/Main/693811/Words/White_UBBT_PHRASE_rock/Search/true/Re:_White_rock_lake!!_Dallas#Post8552462 https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=zhT_nlw8npfw.kTalJjbGvFOM&ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&ll=32.836472,-96.730585&spn=0.035337,0.097504&z=14&om=1

I fish WRL a few times each spring. before the water reaches 60 I catch them on traps, spinnerbaits and longbait, after water stays above 60 I flip 3/8 jigs and big brush hogs. Been out once this year and landed 11. Good Luck
The day after catching a lot of fish is still a good day.

I have been fishing the lake since 74, and take my bass boats out there on a regular basis its a five minute trip from my garage to the closest ramp. Beware there are people just waiting to call the police when you put a big boat in. You MUST launch and load without the use of your motor if it is over 10.5 hp, depending on the wind and ramp loading in the wind is difficult due to the ramps angle. Fishing during the "curfew" is permitted. I was stopped by the game warden one night several years ago, he saw my lights while driving down garland road.
There is a large ramp at the north end of the lake, two small one lane ramps just south of the north ramp on the east bank tucked in with the sail boat clubs, a large ramp on the west bank about mid lake, a one lane ramp near the east side of the dam, with limited parking, and the firemen access ramp near whinfrey point. You must carry your kayak to this ramp from the parking lot.
Fishing was pretty good last Sunday evening, I went for walk with the family after a late Easter lunch / dinner and brought a swimbait rod and one swimbait, caught 6 up to 3.5 pounds on the edges of shallow grass, in about a 3 mile walk / stop and cast a few times and then walk some more, along the east side of the lake. I forgot clippers to retie with and got broke off on my seventh fish.
As the construction along Northwest highway and LBJ is winding down the lakes water clarity is becoming more normal, which should improve the fishing. The past 5 years fishing has been "tougher" do to the heavily stained water from the construction site runoff flowing down WRC.

I've fish it since the early 70's also. mePtoo has giving you the best advice on Whiterock that you can get. I'm 8 mins away from the west side boat ramps , I fish Whiterock alot. The lake is nothing like it used to be. You use to be able to go launch a small boat and fish in peace, know one would bother you.Now it's all about the Skull teams now. They have full control over the old concrete boat stalls (where the bait store and paddle boats used to be). Their Private schools, lots of money, and when they complain they get a response. They like to get right up by the shore and row, their rescue boat guy will give you a cussing too. And then he will run right by you with a 40hp back and forth. I've called the cops on him twice, they didn't do anything except harass me. Money man! They are raising money now for a floating marina, that will close off the cove on the east side by the water treatment plant. The last 2 years hasn't been worth it. And the fishing has been terrible too (look in the Yak forums at their tournament results). last summer you could have walk on the lake there were so many shad. Buddy did hang a 54 pound blue, big ol cat with an attitude. And don't pay attention to the TPWD webpage, their wrong. The city will leave a summons on your truck for a court appearance for having an illegal boat on the lake. (someone called, sailboat marina, home owner or skull teams) It will cost you 250.00 dollars,or like I tried to do, and fight it for around a grand. Dallas owns the lake!!!!!! I quit,I just go to hubbard now.

the lake was good to me on Saturday. caught 8 total including a 5 and 6 pounder. the rest were 2-3 lbs. I fished the west side of the lake, bigger bites came 6-8 ft off the cattails, everything on a chatterbait. I can't say the same for this morning though, had a catfish hit my chatterbait and only one bite from a bass all day. I hate overcast skies and dirty water..
