I would throw either one on those any day of the week. Outstanding!! Put yourself a yellow feather tail on them bad boys and go to town. Just one thing on the second one, try and keep the sparkle down. Baits on the surface reflect a whole lot more light than cranks do. Too much sparkle actually works against you. JMHO I think you have some winners there. thanks cw. i agree with the sparkle. way too much glitter. i knew it was a lot and should have mixed another batch of devcon but didn't. my bad. i've got some yellow bucktail tied up on some #4 and #2 hooks. that would look good on them. i want the wake bait to look like the 1.5 i did. i think it's the best of the bunch. i've got a couple more base coated and will get them right.

I don't think it is an issue of getting it "right". Those two you have are bad to the bone. You got it right, now it's just playin with a tweak here and a tweak there until you look at it and just can't help but grin.

All my big stringers in shallow water this time of year have come on the Chrome/Black back. Another big stringer came on one very similar to Brad's bass with the bone colored bait. This was the first Strike King shallow cranks that were bone, orange throat with the Black bandit face with chartreuse eyes.

Getbitbaits.com I use a paint color called buttermilk for the bone color Thanks for the reseller site....what brand paint is the Buttermilk color you use? Folk art I picked up at hobby lobby. Man I gotta get mine painted, they showed up tonight. Also ordered 2 vixen copies that look sweet. Might need bcd to teach me how to do the feathered treble hooks for them. The gills look really nice, I do agree the one has a touch more glitter than I would like. It should still be good around some heavy grass and in low light conditions or possibly a cloudy day.

CW's bone belly suggestion was right on target. Here's a thought....forget the glitter and use a little iridescent color over the back...not heavy just enough to give the bait a shimmer of some color (Green-Yellow-Gold-etc.) My preference would be gold or red eyes...but that's just my preference. This one is looking good

This one is looking good gold eyes for sure. that was my plan but didn't have the right size. i need to restock my eye supply. iridescent instead of glitter is definitely worth a shot. next test is to get a wake bait to look just like that 1.5.

Let me know how the bucktail worked out. I have had problems with bucktail on crankbaits in the past. The bucktail seemed to be a little too stiff and really hindered the wobble on the crankbait. That is why I pretty much stick with feathers. You want to see something cool, put a small maribou feather on the front treble hook and watch what happens. When you stop the bait the maribou will flare back out like a injured fish gasping for air. I like a little white and red feathers or red maribou on the front. Not too much. But I would like your thoughts on how the bucktail worked out. I may have just had too much on mine.

Very good art on those baits. You can use a push pin like they use on new shirts to change the weight of the dots...or a finish nail ...or whatever...experiment around. Also, with some practice...and steady hands.... you can make tiny thin lines.

Also, with some practice...and steady hands.... you can make tiny thin lines. yeah i use a bunch of different things for the dots. toothpicks, one strand from a jig brush guard, drill bits, etc. those stripes were my first attempt at freehanding stripes. man was i nervous. i'm still working on getting the paint consistency and pressure right. my tendency is to get it too thin and then it spreads. got some cool patterns with it but not what you want on the side of your crankbait.
