I had an odd morning in POC. I drove over from the inlaws in Victoria and arrived about 7 am to wind, low clouds and a spit of rain. Finally got on the water about 8 am. The wind was not as bad as I had anticipated. Sheaphead were crazy at the jetty. A fish every cast but not many other species.
I fished a couple hours before heading in. I cleaned fished, cleaned the boat, and then promptly dropped truck keys carrying stuff to the truck. They fell perfectly through a 4" square hole in the dock. Splash. This key rig had everything on it. Truck, car, camper, work, gun cabinet, boat trailer tongue lock, you name it. So I emptied my pockets, lowered the boat back down, and hopped in. At the stern of the boat, depth was just over 6'. I know because I'm exactly 6'. Where the keys went in was right at chin deep. I took off my shoes and used my feet. After finding a bunch of old oyster shells and unidentified flotsam.......I found them! The remote unlock even still works for now. I may have burned up all my luck for the year but it was some nasty water being < 50 yd from about a half dozen cleaning stations.

Should have grabbed a lottery ticket after that. Glad to see you got the keys back.

Good thing you found them and they didn't get carried out with the current.
