when you are surf fishing, how do you find the 2nd sand bar? Does it move?
Also when you are using a kayak to drop off shark bait how far do you go out from the beach? farther the better?

Sand bars are located where the waves break. Second bar is about chest deep, 3rd bar you would more than likely have to swim to from the second. 3rd bar is around 100 yards, but this varies depending on tides, currents, wind, etc. Also, being that it's sand it can and does move....just watch where the waves are breaking

I usually got out about 150 to 200 yards with 3 then 3 between the 2nd and 3rd. Even at night there a big ones between the 1st and 2nd.

I found this on another site but it is good. I always fish one rod close (wade gut), one after the first bar, and one close to the second bar. Find the fish and then concentrate your rods in that area. For shark rods I put one rod out just after each bar. Bigger sharks will be out deeper but remember all fish like structure. Some of my biggest runs and break offs have been in close at night (first bar).
