Looks like a solid deal to me, all you'll need now is a whistle and pfd!

eh. I bought my 115x from Mariner (with the high seat, not the new frame seat). It was right around that price. Id give Mariner sails a call and see if they can get down to that price on a 115x. http://shop.mariner-sails.com/Wilderness...DE115X-2014.htm here ya go... Are you a member of MSKFC?

I purchased my yak from that website, kayakcity with ZERO issues. Free shipping, no tax (ships from CA). I had to go pick it up from the north Irving depot and there were quite a few yaks sitting for pick up. At the time , the 115x was new on the market and was way less to purchase online. Would I have liked to purchase locally? - yes but it comes down to I saved about 300 plus the extra stuff I got. NO way any local shops could have met where I needed to be at ( and yes I researched and checked). If you want to make the argument to buy local, then purchase the smaller stuff here in town. They make more margin on that stuff than yaks anyways.
So back to the original questions, is it a good deal. Yes it is if that is the exact model you want and you can save on tax. Saving 200-300 is a lot that can be put towards other yak equipment. JP
// I do suggest you look at the high seat though on the website. I have that and it is perfect //

Saving money is always a good thing! However, If you buy local you can count on the service of the local shops to help you out should you have any issues. Good luck dealing with a company in California....

That is true to an extent. Depending on what the issue is, most of the time you need to deal directly with the manufacture if over a certain amount of time even if there is a warranty. Believe me, I deal with manufacturers all the time in the industry I am in and I purchase locally.

I may end up purchasing locally. I've fell in love with the ride 115x without demoing it yet hopefully I will soon. Now I got to look out for deals or craiglists etc.

Now I got to look out for deals or craiglists etc. Austin Kayak is doing Demo's in Austin and Houston over the next couple of weekends. I am confident that they will have the Ride 115X yaks there.
