I am slowly starting to organize all my tackle for our Mexico trip in a few weeks. Basic feel good stuff such as senkos, lizards, spinnerbaits, square bills, and my best friend........Ol Spro frog! I always throw the frog on braid and will do so again, but my question is what line would y'all use down there for the rest of the baits? Was thinking of a small braid for the square bills and all the tree bumping. Thoughts or previous experience down there with these mentioned baits?

I would use 17 or 20 mono for the square bill and 40 or 50 lb braid for every thing else.

Fished it in January and used 20# Ivizex on everything but topwater, used 20# mono. Water was a bit murky, so braid would be fine as well.

25# floro for flipping. 65#braid to 20#mono for Carolina. 15#mono for deep diver is what I used.
I went with Ron Speed JR and the Falcon Lake gang, it was a kick in [censored] we averaged 100 bass a day lots 2.5-4.5 range I think Mr Gary had the big bass of a lil over 6#'s I lost one 6-7 class it was a great time. Good Luck

I saw James' bag checking out of my room as I was checking in. I heard you guys had a great trip just as we did.

I had fluoro on three reels and braid on three. In hindsight, fishing braid on everything would have been just fine and saved a couple of break offs. You'll be fishing lots of rocks and timber.

Have a blast..... I still have bruises on my ribs from a week ago.

I used floro 15 and 20 # on everything except 15# mono on top. water is pretty clear. was there in Feb. I used 75 senkos in a day! They like the biffle craw and bug 2. I also through the Chugging spook in white. the fish liked it.

We whacked them on Scroungers with swim flukes.
FYI, we are doing the Ron Speed Salto\Picachos trip in February 2016 on the full moon! Looking for more folks to join us. The outfitter has 10 rooms reserved. Contact Steve Alexander at Private Waters.

I was there March 10-15, 2015. Threw 50# braid for anything subsurface and 20# Big Game mono on top water. Three reels with braid and 2 with mono each day. Never broke off anything had fish up to 10#.
