They have just set our high school class reunion date for the weekend of Oct 23rd. Football game and the Fall Festival in Sulphur Springs. Since I'll be near Lake Fork, I was wondering what the fishing is like at that time of year. The Yantis, TX web site said the average temperature for mid Oct. is 60 degrees. About the same as mid April. But then we all know Texas weather. LOL
Wonder if it would be worth flying in a few days early to do a little fishing? Aloha, Stan

No ka 'oi!
Fall on Fork can be like any other time. Hit or miss. If you miss either side of lake turnover, it can be on. Hit it in the middle, and they can bein a funk. Shallow or deep, pick your poison.

I like fishing Fork in the fall. It can be the best fishing ever or really tough but it's always worth a try in my opinion. I get to go to Fork three times a year if I'm lucky, one of those is the McDonalds big bass in September and I love it.

I like Fork in the fall the best. Many guys have stored their boats and tackle for the winter, are in the woods or watching football. That makes for a more enjoyable and less hectic day on the water. You never know what you may hang into on Fork and I would certainly take advantage of it if possible.

looking back, my best numbers days and probably my best overall numbers with size days have come in the oct/nov time frame. what is really cool about the time when you are coming is you can literally catch them in any depth. you can find wolf packs shallow or schools off shore. just have to cover lots of water til you find active fish and you will almost always find more than one at a time when you find them.

OCT is my favorite month of the year at Fork. Caught my PB there in Oct many years ago.
