I fished over on the Okie side yesterday in one of the creeks. Was leery of the wind forecast (15 mph with gusts to 30) but the fishing forecast from Accuweather said fishing would be Excellent so I gave it a try. Finished with 4 stripers from 18 - 24 inches, along with a sand bass and a crappie.

It was a struggle in the high waves that were coming across the lake. The upside to the wind advisory day was that I had the whole place to myself. I lost several stripers due to the high winds that blew my little inflatable boat backwards faster than I could reel. Lost another really nice one when he pulled the screw out of the back of the bomber lure I was using. This was a new one for me.

Fishing really picked up after the sun went down. I caught and released several overs when they began chasing shad to the surface all around me. I cast a bomber into the school and bam got one right off. When I got him in the boat, I grabbed another rod, threw out a second bomber and after three cranks had another. I quit after that, as my boat is small and both stripers with flopping around with a crank bait in their mouth. I needed to get them back in the water and also didn't want a treble hook in my leg.

I think fishing just picks up from here until it gets too hot. Looking at my picks from last year, the catches just get better and better until late May when the heat sets in.

All I saw yesterday were dead stripers caught one all day shad and stripers floating everywhere one fisherman told me they saw 1000 dead stripers in one cove.

WTF?

Hope he called the Ranger so they could see what caused it.
