I'm pure hell on a frog rod. I exploded another one on Friday and I need one that's efficient and dependable. I don't like a big broom stick flipping style rod. The rod doesn't load up so I don't get the distance, plus the tip is too hard to walk the dog with it like I do at times. I'm a big guy, 6'5" 280lbs, and I throw a frog with 65lb Power Pro and a locked drag. What's a rod under $200 7'3"-7'11" medium heavy, but has the business to hold up on a big hook set?

I use a Denali Rosewood 7' heavy action. It's not a big broom stick but I have been able to pull fish out of stuff I probably shouldn't have. I really like the action for walking or popping, and can cast a 1/2oz poppin frog a country mile with it and 55# Samurai.

5 years ago bought a Med Hv Falcon Original just for frog fishing. Its a 7' rod. I use the same line you do with drag locked down. I have blown the anti reverse out of one reel but the rod is tough. I have a couple Falcon Originals that are around 20 yrs old, not the most sensitive rod on the market but they are tough. And with frog fishing you don't need sensitive anyway.

See if you can find a used Dobyns 736c (should be easily within that price range). When they go on sale, you can probably find a new one for right around that price. I throw frogs a lot and am not a small guy either. The 736c has been a rod that has hauled fish out of some nasty stuff....can't go wrong in my mind.

I had a Kistler Magnesium and it was tough as boot leather, but it weighed more than my boat. That was several years ago though and they may have worked on that.

The Dobyn's is one I've certainly been interested in but wasn't sure about their lower end models in my price range.

I'm looking at a mega bass tour versatile as my next d dedicated frog rod. I don't subscribe to the theory of having and extremely heavy action in a frog rod. Fact is my Duckett heavy action rods have done a good job but I have been looking at all options as I have been thinking about another dedicated frog rods for awhile and the tour versatile seems to be my top choice. I have a mega bass perfect pitch and it works pretty good but I think it's a little too heavy of action at times, although it worked great Friday with a little bigger frog and high winds.

I am using the TFO Heavy. It is 7-3" It has a nice tip for walking a frog. With the extra 3" you can launch a spro frog.
Rod is fairly light and for a $100 I be loving it.

Dobyns Champion 736 or 735. I prefer the 735 but have both. It's night and day difference than throwing a 7'6" rod all day. I set the hook hard and have used them in the toughest conditions possible. They are both very good all around rods for frogs,flipping,etc... I have all of them. 733,734,735&736. Very versatile rods.

I am hard core frogger and power tackle Is my brand but for a floating frog I don't use Judy's product , all of my other gear is PowerTackle including spinning rods. (14 rods)

For floating frogs I use a rod Brady Winans put in my hands the Bobby Barrack perfect frog rod. I just like it better than my PT 105 7'6" or the few specialized frog rods I've tried from PT having said that the power tackle rods are outstanding if Kernan can't break them they can't be broke.

What's happening cuz? I was a witness to the carnage this guy put on that rod believe me when he sets the hook it's a pretty violent affair.

The frog Rod from Power Tackle is the PG 104.5 some people use the 105... The 104.5 is an awesome frog rods!! The 105 is a broomstick better or flipping heavy grass in my opinion.

My iRod IRG754F is my go to frog rod. It is also extremely versatile. It used to be called Fred's Frog Rod but now it's Fred's Magic Stick because of it's versatility. It's also $149.00.

I like the dobyns savvy 735. For really nasty junk I like the savvy 766flip. Frog fishing is up there with jig fishing as my favorite technique
