Since we had such great reports and updates on the white bass run in the creeks, I would like to keep a thread going in this section.
I'll start it off:
Overlook Marina - Fishing is still slow with the dam being opened and closed. Lake level is 1.7 ft high and releasing 1575 cfs. Normally at this time of year the crappie fishing would be on fire. Bass and bluegill are also still slow around this area.
White bass - I have not heard any reports but middle to late April last year they were catching limits around Rocky Point.

Heard a report of 60 white bass being caught trolling in front on the dam.
Report from Jardelle creek was poor, no crappie caught. Also, white bass aren't schooling near Rocky yet, at least not in great numbers.
Hook-Line&Sinker posted a video of catching some white bass on the Yegua.
Still big crowds fishing below the dam.
LMB are moving shallow. Bluegill are staging.
Lake is at 239.3. 1.3 feet above normal and releasing 1567 cfs.

Thanks J-Moe for getting this thread started, I think it's a great idea. I will be fishing the lake on a weekly basis starting in a couple of weeks, and will report my catches on this thread...Lawton

Is there a website to show the water release of the spillway? Dose anyone know when the spillway will start and top releasing water? Me and my son would like to go to somerville. Do you guys have any tips for some white bass and crappie action? Any spots to fish from? Please keep me updated. Thanks in advance!
Fishing is fun and adictive, but always stay safe. Happy Fishing! How do you add a photo...

Thanks in advance! http://www.swf-wc.usace.army.mil/somerville/The lake is 1.3 feet above normal and releasing 1567 cfs. The spillway will stay open until the lake is back to normal level. That's at least another week without rain. If there is a large heavy rain they will close the dam for a couple of days to allow water to recede downstream. It's a zoo below the dam though. Some of the best white bass fishing will be out around Rocky Point in a couple of weeks. White bass will start schooling around that area. Seine up some ghost minnows or shad. Wade out and cast as far as you can.

Hey J-Moe is the action good on lures as well off rocky or is the best action off live bait? Do they usually hang around the bottom or stage towards the surface? Trying to get to go early in morning Saturday before the bluebonnet fest I have to go to again. Having carpal tunnel surgery done on 15th so that will keep me from fishing for a week or 2

J-Moe i just checked the water data... the spillway is flowing pretty fast. Do you think that they will still release by Friday evening?

I lost a lot of lures to hangs all around that area. So try reeling it fast enough to keep it off the bottom to start with an hope they will take it.

J-Moe i just checked the water data... the spillway is flowing pretty fast. Do you think that they will still release by Friday evening? The lake is receding very quickly. It may be closed by Friday but that will be a good thing. The fishing is actually better right after the dam closes. The fish will pool up in that area for a period of time. They usually start to lower the discharge as the lake approaches normal level. In this case it would probably be best if they pulled it down quickly. The crappie spawn is getting ready to begin and it would be bad if they laid their eggs and then the lake level dropped.
