Had to have a repairman come service my dishwasher today. I was worried the pump was toast as it wouldn't spray water anymore. It was fine, i was just ignorant. Mine has a filter over the sump to prevent food and stuff messing up the pump. The filter was clogged preventing water from entering the sump fast enough to be pumped out. So I thought I'd share what I learned with ya, maybe save you some cash in the future.

1. Clean it regularly. He recommended a product called Dishwasher magic. Once every 6 months. It clears out the calcium, lime, and soap scum deposits that over time can ruin your dishwasher.
2. Don't use liquid soap or rinse aid. It gums everything up and basically waxes the dishes. If the dish doesn't get clean the liquid rinse aid just seals the old food on. Powders and tablets are good, as long as you don't put it in the dispenser thing. Put it in the bottom so it can dissolve properly.

Nice guy. Said if you do these simple things the machines will last twice as long.
