I have decided to sell my 361v and get something bigger. A gentleman I know is considering sellin me his very clean '98 492vs. I had been tryin to find a 520dvs. Which would you say is a better boat as far a ride, fishability, and draft depth. I know the 492 is slower, but that doesn't bother me much. I would like to know how deep each boat drafts. I can get fairly skinny in my 361, and like to go places where I may have to go thru shallow spots to get where I want to go. Anyone ever have both of these boats that can tell me some differences? I have a 2004 520VX and love it. Ride depends on the driver, mostly,(IMHO) but I would say my Ranger rides good; but you can open a whole other can of worms on here asking about boat ride. Draft, I get mine pretty shallow too hasn't been an issue. Speed, I'm like you not an issue, Ranger's are not known as speed demons; another can of worms to open here; but Iv'e had mine at 65 mph in perfect conditions but 60 mph is comfortable for me. Fishibility, best boat I've ever fished out of, very stable, big deck, plenty of storage, almost like fishing off a dock. Don't have an opinion on the 492 but have heard they are good boats as well. Lots of Ranger bashers on here so don't be surprised when you get buy another brand of boat comments. IMHO Ranger's are one of the best boats out there and there resale values support that.
