Hey guys kayak newbie here. Just picked up a F&S eagle talon 12 and was debating trying out the creek in whiskey flats near 377. I bought the kayak for creek and river fishing so I'm trying to stay away from
The big lakes right now. (I've got a skeeter for that) I was just curious to see if any of y'all have ever fished that creek in a yak and if so what are some if any of the challenges you had. Thanks in advance.

I haven't been down there for a while but the biggest question is whether there is enough water in the river. A number of years ago I used to go bank fish down there during the sandie run. Even then there were a number of low spots you would have to portage. Benbrook seems to be lower than it was last year so there may be a lot of spots that are not navigable. But I am talking in general not from recent experience.

You might try launching at South Holiday park on Benbrook lake. They are cantankerous about day use and the launching ramp is closed, but the other day they told me "unless you can hand carry the boat" which is what a kayak does. You woul pay for a launching pass. They don't allow normal day use withour getting a 14$ campsite....which might be an option.....Anyway, you can put in where the Clearfork enters the lake on the extreme south end of the camp ground and avoid leaving your car on 377 pull off. If all this fails, carry from the 377 pull off. Lake is on a slow rise, but the river is low ...the new normal.

Thanks for the input guys. It sounds like it might be more of a head ache than it's worth. I will have to look around and try to find me a spot with a little better assess.

Another option might be to launch from Mustang Park. The open boat ramp would be more of a paddle to get the the Clear Fork mouth though. Bear Creek Campground is due to open April 1 (as is Rocky Creek Park) and that is relatively close to the Clear Fork mouth but it might pose the same issues as Holiday Park campground. It is really too bad that they restrict day use activities in those parks. I am thinking of possibly heading down that way Friday, maybe to the newly opened Rocky Creek Park.
