I just started a 6 month contract with a home builder in Belton. Any help on where I can drop a line around here? I have scouted Lake Belton but it looks to have really heavy traffic. I have a kayak, so I was trying to get into the Leon River or any other waters. Any suggestions will be gladly welcomed and I will try them all.

Leon is good but you want to get into some of the best smallmouth in the state start looking for access along steep drops and rocky shore lines on belton. Stay away from the dam and pleasure boaters launch further up the lake plenty of fantastic water. If your interested I can send you some good up lake gps spots. I have fished a lot of bass tournaments on that lake.

There is a launch with a very long stretch of strait rock face and amazing fishing a short paddle away.

That would be awesome. I fished the banks yesterday around the long bridge/Leona Park but had to walk a ways before I had some water to myself. I caught a few but nothing worth bragging about. My office is right across the street from Cedar Ridge park but I haven't wanted to pay for access if its not worth it.

Check out Nolan Creek, it runs right through the center of Belton. Very healthy population of bass, carp, red horse, and various species of panfish.

Cameron I fished Nolan tonight and it was great. Tons of life in there. I got in behind the police station and waded up the creek a few hundred yards. I think tomorrow I will head down creek towards 317. I also went and looked at the Lampasas below Stillhouse damn, looks OK but will need a kayak. Anyone fished that this year yet?

Awesome man, i have always fished Nolan downstream from the police station. We have waded it about 3 miles downstream, there are some killer holes in there. The best spots are all within the first mile or so.
