I do not have a holier than thou attitude and bass fishermen treat bass that way because it is also a "sport fish." I wish slots were not necessary. I hope that is the case some day.

Jack,
You really need to back off on the personal attacks on here. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, even you have yours, but calling out one person and saying their argument or opinion is worse than anyone elses is over the top. I never saw Kevin point a finger at anyone saying they are a bad person or anything like that.
I am a tournament fisherman. I eat all species of fish. I practice catch and release. Each day is different, and mainly I do release LMB, I had a LMB fry with friends the weekend of Thanksgiving, that I went out fishing with them. Between 4 people we caight 19 keepers, I fileted them and his mother cooked them. All were between 1lb and 2lbs. They tasted great.
I think this topic has outlived its usefulness, going on for weeks now. We can all agree to disagree, but do not make things personal, this is not the place for that.

I think this topic has outlived its usefulness, going on for weeks now. We can all agree to disagree, but do not make things personal, this is not the place for that. Dude, my response to his post was about his OPINION not him as a man or as a person. If you can't see the difference I apologize that I was not more clear. I do feel his argument was the worse one presented. That is nothing against him as a person. You say we are all entitled to our opinions and that is my opinion of his argument. Rather then tell me I am wrong to make that statement if you would like to debate it, then debate the facts about his claim and my rebuttal to it. That would be civil debate among men. Nothing I said is a personal attack and when I use terms like "holier then thou" I have tried to ensure to use adjectives like SOME with it. If I have missed that anywhere again I apologize. Text is the lowest form of communication. Yet one thing I have noticed is that I have brought a LOT of fact and historical game management data to the table here, no one has been able or willing to argue those. If someone can I am open to their view and open to the fact that I might learn something from it. I just wish some other folks would consider that the opposite may also be true.

I never said YOU had the attitude, I said some bass fishermen do and man that IS the case. 2. Sport fish? What? So a striper is not a sport fish? Now we are splitting hairs. Slot limits are FINE by me so long as they make sense and they are adjusted by the state as needed. I have no problem with C&R, I let a lot of fish go, what I have issue with is the cult like attitude SOME bass fishermen SEEM to have. Bass are fish like any fish, the sacred cow stuff SOME of ya'll do in elevating them above other fish is a big part of the tension that exists. I try to not use words like EVERY TIME, ALWAYS, ALL OF YOU and EVERYONE. However, when the shoe fits.....yet that is up to the individual to decide. I think most basser guys are good dudes, dedicated to their sport and just generally a guy I could have a beer with any day of the week. I don't think I can be any more clear on this or bring any more fact or historical game management data to the table, so unless I am directly addressed this is my final post on this. Again I hope you all know my comments in this entire thread are not meant to be personal, unless any individual chooses to take them that way. I have tried to debate the issue and the opinions not the people or their character. If that was unclear at any time again I apologize,

catfishsalsa I hope everyone is about through arguing. I would just like to know what is the biggest fish he has caught so far in the last week, and if it is his personal best. I know your proud, and he has caught some nice fish, so congrats to him.

At least we're not all carbon copies of ourself. I guess everyone has got it out of their system now. Anyways, yep, that one he's holding is the largest this week. It's just a 7lb'er. His personal best at the Pines is 11lbs 3 oz. I've got that picture somewhere...i'll look for it. That one swam free after a pic.

catfishsalsa that is great. In my previous posts on here and the Bass Fishing section, I did not have a problem with anything you posted, was just stating that a lot of other people would and new how they would react.

Catfishsalsa, Don't sweat it brother, A lot of the bass guys are just messed up anyways, 50k on a boat and then they go into a panic if they get a little mud or slim on the carpet. Lets not get started on the CPR stuff, these folks probably go to the sea food restaurant and order just a salad. Come on really, why fish if you don't keep a few at least every once in a while. You guys that are strictly catch and release should sell those high dollar boats and go find some girly sport to play like polo or something. Anyway Catfish, Tell your Dad congratulations and keep on frying those over grown large mouth Pearch, I do, every chance I get.

uscgc_procraft,
There is no way you actually read the topic from beginning to end and came to that conclusion. You skimmed it, found a few shots that were taken due to fustration with the "bass are the most important fish in the water attitude" and desided that we were just kicking all bass fishermen around.
If you would read the entire thread you would notice that a solid scientific and historical case was made for responsible and legal harvest. You will also see the people opposed to eating those bass never argued the facts, they just continued to spout C&R dogma.
You have also succeeded in floating this dying thread back to the top, for someone that wants if deleted that does not make a lot of sense. Had you left it be it would have been on the dark side of page 4 in a day or so at the most.
