After breaking and bending several running lights I want to put the LED running lights on my boat like the new Rangers. Is that being accepted by the Texas Parks and Wildlife wardens. I have heard yes and no. Also is there any regulation on how far back from the bow they have to be.
John K Fontenot Diapers and Politicians need to be changed often; and for the same reason.

Been running them a year and not a single issue. I do however ask the TD's of teh trails I fish if they are OK with them just in case.

I have had no issue either. There are certain guidelines they are supposed to meet but not sure how strictly enforced those guidelines are on area lakes. You are probably gonna get a lot of different responses from different people. It basically all depends on which LEA you are encountering at that particular time.

I'm running LED's. Based on my research, they are technically not legal. The reality is that they are more visible than the standard pole light, and the posts I read from people that did encounter TPWD had no issues. I'll take more visible anytime and let the chips fall where they may if there is a problem with a LEO encounter.

My Ranger Z520C came with LED Bow and Stern lights, therefore, I would think they are legal.

Are you guys referring to something that replaces the pole light in the rear of the boat? If so, does it replace the need to put in the pole in the back? More details please, thx

I just installed a MK Fortrex on my Skeeter. My nav lights up front are practically the same height. Looks like I need some LED's...

I have to agree, I would much rather be more visable. I added led's and have never had a problem.

I asked my local Game Warden (about a year ago) and he told me that they look cool so I guess that he agrees that the more visible the less chance of an accident.
you know, nothing wrong with seven men who met on the internet going for a swim together

Like said above, I'll take visibility/safety over a small detail in the law. Any GW that has any common sense is not gonna say anything.

No issues yet, they seem to be very durable. They have been installed about a year now with many trips into the trees and rough water.

Are these difficult to install? Do you have to run power all the way to the back of the boat?

Do the LED lights you're using have the required USCG Approved stamp on them? If not, then technically they are not legal. You may or may not have a problem with TPWD because of this, but if you fish waters where Coast Guard inspections occur (Falcon, Amistad, coastal waters), you likely will.

We tied into the power supply to the factory nav light. The led's dont draw enough amps to overload the factory circuit. I also keep the factory light in until I find out for sure if the led lights are legal.
