You are casting lures for bass.
Does a bass ever know that is an artificial lure, and does he ever know that is fishing line tied to the lure.
In other words, does lure and line make a difference?

i think your over thinking it... bass has a brain about the size of your pinky nail... so when they see something in their environment .. they are gonna react to it. will say... when fishing clear lakes, or fishing weightless senko's, fluorocarbon makes a huge difference. its very sensitive to help you feel bites. also i will add smaller lb. line will help the action of the worm to be more natural... good luck!

Floro will get you more bites..Its a combination of better action on the lure, and smaller diameter...I think bass operate by instinct, they do adapt to things that are out of place in their enviroment..Noise, pressure, etc..In heavily pressured water, attention to detail, thinking about feeding/reaction bites will help...I dont think the bass will avoid big line, espcially if the lure is attuned to their potential feeding opportunity...

Small bass are easier to catch than larger bass....a double digit weight bass can be 10-12 years old. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say they do learn as they age....having said that, yes, line and lure do matter.

I think they can make a difference, more on some fish than others. Some learn to avoid and some are just plain stupid. I remember seeing a bass caught on a lure, lure removed and hanging in the air over the water by about a foot. Bass looked at then released and immediately jumped out of the water and bit the lure a second time. Never even tried to swim away.

Bass are predators and they have to eat to survive. I think they often have an eat-first, figure-it-out later attitude. Having said that, lures and line do make a difference. Lures especially. Line not as critical in stained water.
In memory of my childhood friend Dan Sterling, who taught me at an early age how to catch bream with a hand-line, and who unknowingly hooked me on fishing for life.

Unless you are fishing in heavy vegetation, I don't think you will get as many bites on braid line (which is very visible) if it is tied directly to the hook. That's why most people tie a mono or fluoro leader to braid.
