Has anyone had an order from Barlows take awhile to get shipped? I ordered some material on 3/7, and called this past Thursday (3/19) or so, and the guy said that it would be going out that day. Wonder why it takes them so long to get the order together and ship it when Crazy Angler can get my order to me the same week that I order it. Any of you tyers run into this?

You guys should also check out Bob Marriott's, has probably more than any shop I know of and good service too. If you have questions you can just call and talk to someone for help with what ever you need to know about a product. Lots of the guys there also tie flies so know the products pretty well. Just something to check out.

Oh and they carry a lot of the materials I use which are Hareline's stuff like the feathers.

I will have to check him out Skip. Wish there was a place closer to me that I could actually go in and do my shopping. Lots of things i have no idea what they are, and some things look different in person than what they did online.

Usually if they are out of a few things they will ship what they have and follow later with what they didn't have. If you had a number of items they were out of that for me would have been unusual! It's been a long time since I actually used them, but always had great service. I think they still do free shipping if the order is over $100 too! I use to make sure it got there, LOL!

I think with Barlows, if they are out of something they will wait on it before shipping. I can usually tell, as most stuff gets here in 2-3 business days and then an order will take 10 days to 2 weeks.

On Bob Marriot's. Skip told me about them and I placed an order. Got a call from a real nice guy who told me that they were out of some of the chenille and saltwater hackle I had ordered. He said they would ship what they had and should have the other stuff within a week. He asked if it was OK to ship what they had and that they would ship the backorder as soon as they got it. In the meantime I tried some new chenille they carried that I really liked so I called them and told them what I needed. I said just throw the backorder in with the new order and I'd pay shipping. He said no, that he'd just throw the chenille in with the backorder and ship on their dime. Great customer service. (And I really like the quality of their stuff)

I think you are right, with Barlow's I have been using them for over 40 years and Marriott's for a long time. Two other places worth a look is J. STOCKARD AND saltwater Fly Tying Material. On that last one that is the name of the place. I don't get a lot either place but some time they have the hard to find.

Barlows got caught up in recent weather around the country. I placed order and normally 5 days in IL. I called them and asked what happened. Similar to the business I am in with Port Strike, Canada Chemical Fire and East Coast weather thru a lot off.

They say April will be back n running with no issues.

So I received my package yesterday. I ordered 4 things, and 1 item was out of stock, and the other item has been discontinued. Bad thing is, the items that they dont have are really the 2 itmes that I needed. Just my luck...
