Yesterday while Crappie fishing I dropped some juglines as I normally do. I baited them with cut perch expecting to catch some blues, or a channel, again as I normally do. But this time, no blues, no channel, but instead 4 flatheads. I have never caught a yellow before unless using live bait. Never on cut bait. Then all of a sudden FOUR IN THE SAME DAY? I wonder what turned them on so abruptly?

I chalk it up to the right place at the right time.

If targeting flatheads I will almost always go for live bait, but have caught them on fresh cut/whole dead shad and perch as well as night crawlers and chicken liver.
