This decision was the best move for the future of the company.
It has been a multiple time a day habit for me to frequent this board ever since moving to Lufkin, TX. I've only posted a couple times. It is probably best I keep my mouth shut, all in all. TFF is a fine place to gather information. Many of the regulars I know by their login names by now. In conclusion, TFF is full of fine people.
Rick has made it very public that he isn't going anywhere. His long term commitment was required as a precursor to this closure. Rick Pierce is 100% committed to the future growth and success of Bass Cat Boats.
Thank you for you're concern. Though I am separate from the company, I am emotionally invested in Bass Cat Boats. I was born and raised in that factory, cut the grass out there, worked nightshift in high school, and overall love the place. I can promise you no one else in the industry is more devoted to a product then Rick Pierce. He worked 100+ hours a week out there over the years. There were weeks he slept at his desk, despite his short drive back to the house. There were days in a row in which he didn't sleep or leave that plant. That type of character and commitment doesn't go away. Many wont understand, but this was best for the future of the company. Bill Yeargin(owner of Correct Craft) is a good man. Bass Cat owners are truly family. Thank you for your dedication to my family for 43 years. It's been the biggest pleasure in my 26 year life.
Some of you I've met. I look forward to meeting others in the Sam Rayburn or Toledo Bend area.
Yours Sincerely
Ryder L. Pierce (One of Rick's sons)

Ryder L. Pierce (One of Rick's sons) Clearly nothing needs to be added about the committment of the family to the brand they built after this post. That being said... Its obvious the Pierce family still be full involved with the company and if anything, they will get stronger.

I hope all the employees and great dealers like Tommy at Rockwall are not affected. Best wishes to the Pierce family as well.

Ryder L. Pierce (One of Rick's sons) Not to many 26 year old men who would have the maturity to make a statement like this. Thanks Ryder. There are many who are pulling for the long term success of BCB and have admired what your family has built. I am sure BCB is "in your blood" and there is a lot of pride in that name. I applaud you for coming on here and adding your thoughts and for being so transparent. Many will take shots at this move, and quite frankly, the move makes sense and is the natural maturation of business in a world of free market capitalism. Unfortunately, your father will not live forever and at some point, change always comes.Your family owes no-one on this board anything, definitely not an explanation of how they run their business. To see transparency like this and words from both you and Rick on message boards today, when it is not owed or necessary, says a lot of how much you believe in what was built over the last 40 years. I hope this is a very lucrative and profitable move for all involved, and wish BCB all the best in the next generation of their brand.
Jesus loves all of us

Big thanks to Ryder for his special insight and comments and to folks like Frank the Tank for leavel headed input as well. I have been a Bass Cat supporter and owner for 20 years and have a new Puma on order at this time. This news was a shock but I feel that this decision was made in the best interest of the company, employees, current and future owners.
I feel much better about this change as compared to if I owned a Ranger and my brand was now owned by the same company that owns and builds Nitro and Bass Tracker products.
Best wishes to all of the Bass Cat Family!

Hopefully their boat quality stays the same. Would hate their boat quality to end up going down because of new owner. Always ran BassCat and never planned on switching brands. We'll have to see if any changes are made in next year or so. Nautiques suck, buddy had one and I use to wakeboard behind it, thing was a POS, stuff always breaking and falling apart....guessing bass cat will be made cheaply now Far from true about Nautigues. One of the best ski/wakeboard boats on the market. In my opinion they're top three in the wakeboard world just behind Malibu and Mastercraft. That's just my opinion and everyone knows what they say about opinions.

Maybe they will actually address the touch pad which is a big issue? There has been over one a year replaced in my boat. It's great to have everything go out in a tournament . The thing is like a ticking time bomb.

Maybe 2015 bass cats and older will demand a better resale value?

Excellent business decision, imo
Why wouldn't a Cat owner prefer this inevitable transition over a merger with, say, Triton?
By aligning with a top, non-endemic, my guess is Mr. Pierce secured not only the future for his family, but for owners of his brand.
Entrepreneurs like the Pierces reach a point of diminishing returns. Their dream has become a mammoth that requires more man power and financing than the guy ever intended. So he's left with a choice. Maintain and possibly die on the vine. Or find a good partner.
Coincidence is His way of remaining anonymous.
